Grady CEO John Haupert Named Among Atlanta’s 2023 Most Admired CEOs
August 14, 2023
John Haupert, president and CEO of Grady Health System, has been named to Atlanta Business Chronicle’s list of “2023 Most Admired CEOs.”
The Most Admired CEO awards honor chief executives and other leaders with strong records of innovation, outstanding financial performance, a commitment to quality and diversity in the workplace, and meaningful contributions to the metro Atlanta community. Haupert is among 39 leaders from various industries selected for this honor.
Haupert has served as president and CEO of Grady since 2011. Grady is Atlanta’s only Level 1 trauma center and home to several nationally recognized clinical services, including Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center, Grady’s Cancer Center for Excellence, and one of the nation’s largest infectious disease programs.
Haupert has led transformational changes at Grady, including implementing a mobile integrated health program to reduce readmissions and improve patients’ physical and mental health. In addition, Grady has met or exceeded all financial goals related to net income, operating margin, growth, and other measures each year since 2011. Most recently, under Haupert’s leadership, Grady has expanded access to healthcare for Atlanta by opening a new outpatient facility, Correll Pavilion, and the announcement of openings for two new outpatient centers in areas considered healthcare deserts.
“For me, the key to being an impactful leader is prioritizing your people – meeting them where they are and ensuring they have what they need to be successful,” said Haupert. “If you prioritize the health and well-being of your team members, they are better equipped to go out and provide exceptional care for the community we are privileged to serve.”
Haupert is a board-certified Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and received the ACHE Gold Medal Award, the highest honor given to those who exemplify leadership at the organizational, local, state, and national levels. Haupert is also chair of the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees, serving as the top elected official for the organization, which represents America’s hospitals and health systems and works to advance health in America. He is a member of the board of directors for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Atlanta Committee for Progress, and the Atlanta Opera.
Atlanta Business Chronicle will recognize the Most Admired CEOs during a cocktail reception and dinner on August 17 at the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta.
