Dr. Joshua Guttman was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He earned his medical degree at the McGill University Faculty of Medicine and continued on to complete a residency in Emergency Medicine at McGill University, where he spent a year as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in emergency medicine ultrasound at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York, NY. Currently Dr. Guttman is an assistant professor and the ultrasound fellowship director at the Emory University School of Medicine. He works clinically as an attending physician at Grady Memorial Hospital. Dr. Guttman lectures nationally and internationally on point of care ultrasound and runs a national point of care ultrasound course. Dr. Guttman is an author on multiple book chapters and review articles on both ultrasound and other Emergency Medicine topics. He serves on multiple national committees focused on ultrasound education and administration. Aside from being the fellowship director, Dr. Guttman is actively involved in ultrasound education, research and administration as well as resident education at Emory University. His current research includes novel applications of cardiac and bowel point of care ultrasound.
