Our Services

We have experience with a wide variety of foot and ankle problems, but some of the conditions we treat most commonly include:

  • Foot and ankle sprains and strains.  Sprains occur when ligaments tear due to a sports injury, fall, accident, or other types of trauma. Foot and ankle sprains often cause swelling, tenderness, bruising, and pain. While most sprains can usually be treated with rest, ice, and wearing compression bandages, severe sprains may require surgery to repair the damage. Learn more about foot and ankle sprains and strains.
  • Ankle ligament reconstruction. Reconstruction is often necessary to repair ankle instability or repeated sprains. Reconstruction tightens loose ligaments and improves overall ankle stability. Learn more about ankle ligament reconstruction.
  • Foot and ankle fractures. A fracture may be a crack in the bone, called a stress fracture, or a complete break. Fractures in foot and ankle bones require different treatments, depending on the location and severity of the break and the patient’s health. Learn more about foot and ankle fractures.
  • Ankle arthritis. While less common than other forms of arthritis, ankle arthritis can occur with age as the cartilage wears away, causing bones in the ankles to rub against each other. Serious cases may require surgery – and even ankle replacement. Learn more about ankle arthritis.
  • Tendon injuries. The foot and ankle are made up of many bones, ligaments, and tendons that work together to keep you moving. Tendons are bands of tissue that attach muscles to bones. When tendons are injured or torn, they can cause pain, swelling, weakness, and discomfort when standing, walking, or playing. Our orthopedic specialists use the latest treatments and procedures to repair or reconstruct tendons.
  • Plantar fasciitis.  This common cause of heel pain involves the inflammation of a band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot. Plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing pain. It is common in runners, overweight people, and those who wear shoes with inadequate support.
  • Ankle sprain. This occurs when the strong ligaments that support the ankle stretch beyond their limits and tear. Most sprains are minor injuries that heal with home treatments like rest and ice. However, surgery may be required if your ankle is very swollen – or you are having trouble putting weight on your ankle at all. Learn more about ankle sprains.
  • Peroneal tendon injuries.  Peroneal tendons stabilize the foot. Peroneal tendonitis is an inflammation that can result from repetitive use of the tendon or trauma. Tendinosis, or a degenerative tear, occurs over time. Sometimes, surgery is needed to repair the tendons or supporting structures of the foot.
  • Achilles tendon injuries. The Achilles tendon is the largest tendon in the body, stretching from your heel to your calf. It can be torn through trauma or develop tendonitis, a condition that inflames the tendon. Both conditions can cause pain, swelling, and stiffness. Learn more about Achilles tendon injuries.
