Dr. Kiwita S. Phillips is a native of Albany, GA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She then matriculated to Harvard Medical School where she earned her M.D. degree. She took a year off from medical school to complete a fellowship in clinic research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow before completing her MD education. Dr. Kiwita S. Phillips completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Morehouse School of Medicine and she joined the faculty in 2010 where she serves as an Assistant Professor and Associate Residency Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She takes her dual roles as educator and clinician seriously. She spends her time teaching residents and students and has won teaching awards and praise for these efforts. The most notable accolade was the 2011 GME Faculty of the Year Award. She is a patient advocate and skilled surgeon. She has clinical interests in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and adolescent/teen health.
She is co-founder of the R.E.A.C.H Scholarship, a scholarship developed to assist graduating seniors at her alma mater, Monroe Comprehensive High School in Albany, GA. Dr. Phillips is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
